Born and raised in Avondale, Auckland where I attended Avondale College.

Having lived and worked in many areas of Auckland during my life I have an extensive knowledge of the city and have seen massive changes to both the city and property values. I currently reside in Birkenhead.

I have been married since 1990 to my wife Kim and have two daughters.

I started my working career with Inland Revenue in 1983. Over the years I have worked in the commercial sector in finance and management roles. In the mid 90’s I was General Manager of a medium sized engineering company. My last corporate role immediately prior to becoming a Mortgage Broker in 2002 was Group Financial Controller for the BBQ Factory.

I was a director for 10 years of a private property investment company which at its peak owned 18 properties.

I am a property investor myself having personally bought and sold six properties.

I am passionate about the property market; through my working career I have amassed the right mix of skills (tax, financial, negotiation, property investment) to be able to guide you through the process, to point out structuring opportunities and to know when you should seek expert tax or legal advice.

In my first year as a Mike Pero Mortgage Broker I won the ‘Rookie of the Year’ Award and have been one of the top three Brokers in all the last three years since then.

In these four years I have personally arranged over $200 million worth of mortgages.

I am a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand and the New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association.
