Aug 09 Mike Pero Take Honours At 2009 NZMBA Awards

Mike Pero Mortgages’ brokers have taken out some top awards at the 2009 annual New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association (NZMBA) Awards held in Wellington on Friday night.

James Heath was awarded Broker of the Year for Christchurch and Grant McFlinn was second runner up for National Broker of the Year.

Mike Pero Mortgages Chief Executive Shaun Riley says he’s full of praise for his brokers’ achievements.

“James and Grant have been recognised for the outstanding work they do. These awards are the result of a lot of determination and hard work. In this industry it’s all about client
service and these brokers certainly live by the phrase ‘putting the client first’,” he says.James Heath says it’s an honour to take out the top award for Christchurch.

“I find it gratifying to be recognised by my peers for doing a job that I really love. I also find it very rewarding to know that I have made the process of getting clients in the Christchurch
area into a new home a satisfying experience.”

James Heath has been with Mike Pero Mortgages in Christchurch for nine years and Grant McFlinn works out the Auckland office and has been with the company for nine years.

Grant McFlinn was named NZMBA Broker of the Year for the Counties Manukau region in 2002 and Auckland central in 2003. He was also a finalist for Auckland central in 2005.

The NZMBA Broker Awards are among the most prestigious and sought after industry related awards. The judges say the awards recognise the outstanding contribution that
brokers have made to mortgage broking in New Zealand and also reflects the outstanding manner in which these brokers have dealt with both clients and lenders.
Brokers are nominated for the NZMBA Broker Awards by lenders. The nominated broker then makes a submission, including a business and processes plan and provides other
relevant financial information. A 45-minute presentation and interview session is then held with a judging panel.

Shaun Riley says the other Mike Pero Mortgage nominees in the NZMBA Awards deserve to be congratulated for their efforts. He says Jacob Annals, Darrin McCormack, Charlotte
Lockhart, Kevin Muir and Lee Johnson have also made the company extremely proud of their achievements.

“It is a real reflection of the professionalism and care that all our brokers have when dealing with their clients to ensure they receive the most trusted and unbiased mortgage advice.”
