After Canterbury’s recent earthquake, Mike Pero Mortgages would like to assure our valued clients that we are here to help.
Like you, we are based in Christchurch so we have seen the scale of the disaster and many of our staff and brokers have been impacted.
We are, however, all available to answer any of your queries relating to your mortgage and insurance, so please do not hesitate to call if you need any assistance. Our office is also open if you need to meet.
We have provided some useful information below to help you through this difficult time.
Insurance – How to make a claim
If you have House Insurance then you are covered for Earthquakes. The Earthquake & War Damage Commission (EQC) are paid a levy every time you pay your premium. The EQC will be responsible for any house claim up to $100,000 and contents claim where you have Contents insurance to $20,000.
In the first instance you should report your damage to the EQC, free phone 0800 326 243 or lodge a claim online here. Claims must be lodged 3 months from the time the event occurred. If possible take pictures of damaged items.
If you have Home and Contents Insurance through Mike Pero, please contact your local broker to discuss your options from here.

The Major lenders that we deal with have announced a range of relief packages to ease the financial pressure caused following Canterbury’s Earthquake.
