Congratulations to Aroha Clarke from Bay of Plenty, and Gannin Bell from Auckland who have both been awarded the $5,000 Mike Pero Foundation Scholarships and Mitchell Croft from Marlborough, who has been awarded a $2,500 Mike Pero Foundation Scholarship.

Aroha Clarke from Te Puke High School in the Bay of Plenty received a $5,000 scholarship, which she will put towards a Bachelor of Communications, at Massey University in Albany.

Gannin Bell, who is in his final year of study at Auckland's Rutherford High School, has been awarded a $5,000 tertiary scholarship. He will put this towards a Bachelor of Science at the University of Auckland in 2010, where he intends to major in Biomedicine in his first year, then in his second year take up a Bachelor of Optometry.

Mitchell Croft from Marlborough Boys' College in Blenheim won a $2,500 scholarship. he will put this towards a double degree, a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Science, at the University of Canterbury.

The team at Mike Pero's recognises the importance of tertiary education for young New Zealanders. The scholarship programme has been set up to ease the financial burden for successful applicants and allows them to concentrate on their studies.

 

The Scholarship programme is for prospective first-time tertiary students aged between 17 and 25 from a variety of study areas. If you are a New Zealand resident planning to study in 2011 at a recognised tertiary institution for at least 12 months, and you would like to apply for a Mike Pero Foundation Scholarship, applications will open on 6 April 2010.
